DeLoryes and Roger Hicks saw this 1949 Cadillac in Indiana -- completely covered in pennies -- and brought this postcard back to share with us.
There are 38,295 pennies on the Caddy. They were adhered, one at a time, using silicone, and they added a little over 200 pounds to the car's weight. The entire project was accomplished over a period of six weeks in the summer of 1999.
All of the pennies were attached head-side up, except four which are tail-side up. All of the pennies are Americna, and include:
-- an 1817 "big cent"
-- two error pennies, and
-- four 1943 steel pennies.
